How To Build

A Planer Board

Planer boards have fast become common equipment when trolling large bodies of water for often-moving fish such as Walleye, Lake, Brown and Rainbow Trout, and Salmon. We have received numerous requests to provide plans for this equipment due to the high cost and inability to modify commercial models. Recently we have found such a set of plans and present them to you here.

NOTE: We have not yet had the opportunity to make a planer board from these plans, so if any modifications are necessary, please forward them to editor@the-fishing-network.com. Thanks in advance for your input.

Following are the materials you will need to make the planer board:

Click Here for PlansThese Plans are provided for the Port Board (The one out to the left as you look from the stern of the boat to the bow). We've provided some large "Plans" for you to print out. Click on the image to the right to view the plans and then print out the page that comes up.

When making the boards, make sure you mitre, rasp or plane a 30o angle on the front of the boards as shown in the plans.
