The Boat Motor... Clean out the fuel tank. It may have collected condensation over the winter months. Old gas left in the tank will more than likely have gelled a little, which could cause some problems for your carborators or injectors. Check, replace or clean the fuel filters and gaskets. Even little nicks in gaskets can cause serious problems with your engine -- Like fire! Do the same with all fuel lines, inspecting them properly for cracks and loose fittings. Also check to see if your fuel tank has its own filter. Clean or repair it as well. Check and blow out the water pump exhaust. There should be a small hose coming out from underneath the back of the engine. Carefully pull the hose off the cylinder heads, and blow through it. There should be an unobstucted flow of air coming out the end. When it doubt, clean it.. Spiders and wasps like to make nests in these outlets, causing serious damage to your engine, should it not be noticed in time. Replace the spark plugs whether needed or not. Check your local dealers or owners manual for part numbers. |
