![]() Northern Crappie ViewsThrough out this past summer I have run into many fishermen who informed me that they would be getting back to crappie fishing in the fall when the crappies were biting. I found this statement rather profound because I'd been catching good sized slabs all summer, on weed lines. Most fishermen feel crappies are only catchable in the spring and fall, and don't realize that a crappie is a deep water fish. They only move to shallow water to feed and breed. Their real home is in deep water, which will very according to your location. This can be as deep as one hundred feet in the southern USA and rarely deeper than thirty feet in there northern ranges of the USA and Canada. |
