Northern Crappie Views 

In this article I will cover the mid-summer months, July and August, including the various types of equipment needed for successful crappie fishing. Well, summer at last, and those cold spring days are gone. At least the popular consensus is that the cold days are now finally behind us; or are they? Well I hate to be the one to break the bad news to you, but we will not be in for a normally hot summer this year. As the global conditions that caused the extreme cold effects this past winter and spring will still be with us all this summer. So be prepared for many cool, rainy days.

This situation is neither good nor bad, it just means you will have to change your fishing patterns from last year. The cooler weather effects the minnow movements and the timing of the larvae hatches, which determines the location of the crappies at any given time. You might find (as I have) that last years hot location is only so, so this year.
