To properly present the spoon, forget about casting it. First of all, you won't get much action out of the lure. Secondly, by retrieving the bait, the bass (if it sees it) will watch it swim by at a speed that will dissuade him from attacking. Remember, you are trying to imitate a fluttering, dying baitfish. Take the name of the lure literally. Jig it vertically over the fish. Your boat (if you're in one) will probably be far enough away (vertically) to avoid spooking the fish unless you're particularly noisy. If you are on ice, just don't jump up and down. |
