Quick Quip...

Anything for a buck! Although not every angler fishes with a ruler or tape measure to determine the size of the days best catches, most do carry a wallet (a handy place to keep your license!). If you're rich enough to have a few bills in your wallet the next time you're fishing, you can take one out and measure your fish with it. Each bill is 6 inches long. Now, being from Canada, I wonder if that means that our bills are only 4 ½ inches in length? If they are, then that would certainly give us a fair handicap when considering the length of growing seasons and relative size (if not numbers) of our bass, walleye, crappie and catfish!

What's New...

Travel Update: TFN is currently running 3 special trips (booking Feb '99 ONLY) to Costa Rica at a price reduced by about 40%! Tarpon fishing is famous in Costa Rica, and our trips feature one of the top fishing guides in the country. So if you're planning a trip to the Carribbean, why not go that one step further and land in Cantral America? Costa Rica is a safe, stable country, and for $1,300 (US) each for a party of 4, it's a great deal! Check it out on the Baula Tours Page.

Chat Update: For the past 3+ years, folks have been after us to provide an on-line chat system here at TFN. So we finally took the plunge and did it. In fact, we've even scheduled chats every Tuesday Night at 8pm ET (7pm CT, 6pm MT and 5pm PT) that run for a few hours. The conversation has been good, with tips and ideas flying around the chat room. However, I would have thought that with all the clammering to get this service installed, we would have more than an average of 20 people participating. Hey, we don't bite, and the interactivity is free, so why not come out and join us Tuesday for the Weekly TFN Chat!

Federation Update: The Crests and Decals are ordered - the process is taking longer than even I imagined it would. Parts of theFederation section of TFN have been updated, but the new pages have yet to be loaded - a little database debugging still needs to be done, but it's near the top of the to-do list.

Send in those stories! As I said before, "Ya can't win if ya don't play!". Check out the Hooked on Bass contest and send in your stories to win a free CD ROM filled with bassin' info, video, audio and diagrams from In-Fisherman™! And remember - we also have the same contest running for Walleye stories - you could win the Way Of The Walleye CD Rom!

Wooof!... Last month TFN actually had over 2 million hits!... and we're still just starting to get rolling!

I had a great deal planned to announce this issue, but time constraints have set me back a bit (once again). Suffice it to say that I'm not commenting on anything until I get done what I said I'd do last time.

So, Until next issue...
(tight lines, get it wet, good fishin', see you on the ice, etc., etc.).
