PLEASE HELP 5 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Please provide even the smallest of suggestions; I’m going nuts! I need ideas for how to store at least a 10’ x 10’ room full of fishing gear- my main problem; I have to see everything. So far my most ingenious method for storing my plugs and lures that are already hooked has been to purchase plastic medication bottles (o.k.- most were my own for that “going nuts” condition) and displaying them in my own “medicine cabinets”, after all, all joking aside, the best “natural cure” for all of my aliments is a day on the lake, popping fish out of the water with my husband and children both of which will have of course, miraculously discovered that there is absolutely no need to talk about anything while I’m fishing (They actually, with smug attitudes I might add, corrected me recently and informed me, that I am wrong about fish having ultra sensitive adaptive hearing capabilities used to sense the slightest vibration of the human voice, therefore fleeing the surrounding area if they should open their mouths to speak, and thus have somehow created a “free speech” platform while on the boat. I am sure that the look of surprise on my face when they contributed their research discovery must have made them feel so very proud, like they had finally “one upped me” while in my comfort zone so I could not bare to enlighten them with the fact that the pure look of shock on my face was a product of realizing that my super evolved fish tale had actually worked for FIFTEEN straight years) how time flys!
Back to my point, I had one…I need to see what I have in order to pack for specific trips. I store rods and reels separately, like the ease of my old pill bottles because I can easily pop them in and out of my vests without having to carry tackle boxes. I want to create the dream. If anyone out there has seen the movie “Overboard” where Kurt Russell builds Goldie Hawn an awesome rotating shoe display on her Yacht, that is what this woman wants to build for my fishing stuff- and I wouldn’t mind a fishing boat the size of that yacht either!

I have a 24X12 shed which looks like a tackle shop inside.(A messy one I must admit) Fishing for everything in salt-water from Sea Trout to sharks takes a large variety of tackle. J hooks in pegboard will eliminate a lot of clutter and allow you to see your lures etc. Reels placed on shelves and separated according to type i/e spinning, level wind, conventional etc. I purchase my soft plastic lures in large quantities and leave them in the bags they originally came in on j-hooks and then refill my boxes as needed. Slip sinkers, swivels etc are great in small plastic bags on the hooks too. Hope this is a little help. Good luck! It's a great problem to have.
