SUCCESS

There are principles which apply to angling regardless of your geographic location or the species you intend to catch. We must understand that all fish are creatures of reflex and that each species reacts differently to the same set of environmental stimuli. The various aquatic habitats can be classified and the behavior of a particular species in a particular envi-ronment can be predicted with a reasonable amount of success. These patterns of behavior change on a daily, annual, and especially seasonal basis. Based on this scientific information we can choose the appropriate equipment and technique to consistently enjoy successful angling.

However, success can't be measured only in terms of immediate rewards. What you do now will have an effect on future generations of anglers. A "fish smart" angler is always aware of the delicate balance between the fish and its environment and between the environment and humans. Ethics and conservation are all part of the sense of satisfaction that comes with the pursuit of a challenging, enjoyable sport.
