The following tips should give you a good idea of how to plan for your drive.

General Tips

• Always carry your drivers license, and make sure there are no outstanding tickets or warrants.
  
• Have your vehicle thoroughly checked and make any necessary repairs befor you leave.
  
• Make sure your spare tire is in good shape and your jack and tire iron are in good working condition.
  
• Plan your route before you leave, taking into account rush hour traffic around urban centres, and always take appropriate maps with you.
  
• Be sure to always have an emergency road-side kit containing tools, a first aid kit, flares, emergency signs and a thermal blanket.
  
• Always drive with seatbelts on, and make sure that infants are properly strapped in to their child car seats.
  
• If youplan on making any stops to fish or hunt, make sure you know and abide by the local regulations.
  
• Store any valuables in the trunk, not the glove box or under the seat.
