Quick Quip...Save Money On Minnows: Many ice anglers continually pay through the nose (pardon the pun) for a constant supply of minnows to be used through hard water at their shacks. Here's a tip. Instead of simply putting the bait-bucket down one of the holes when you leave to keep the minnows fresh until your return the next day, toss in a couple of pinches of goldfish food with them. Hey, minnows have to eat too, and if they're well fed, they'll have more energy to entice that next lunker that comes by your line.
What's New...The "New and Improved" TFN Trophy Bass™ 2 section is off and running. We're working through the bugs, and hope to have things smoothed out shortly. We began qualifying events in the first week of January, and have run them for Castaic and Lanier, with Lake of the Ozarks on for this week. If you missed one or both of the last two weeks events, we'll be holding a make-up week between Jan 26th and Feb 1. We're also still looking for people to represent TFN in running a few events. All you have to do is start a game and report back the scores. If you can spare a couple of hours once or twice a week, have the Trophy Bass 2 game and are connected to WON.net from time to time, we'd love to hear from you.
The Javascript navigation system that was introduced in the last issue of the Web-zine (and in TFN INTRACTIVE!) has been quite a success. Many of you have reported that pages are loading faster. Remember that if you have problems with the new system (i.e. you have a Java-challenged browser), go to the homepage of the flavor of browser of your choice, Netscape or Microsoft, and download the most current version.
This Issue...In Volume 3, Number 7, we concentrate on ice fishing in the hopes that if we keep thinking about it, the weather will get cold enough across the northern hemisphere for ice to solidify in the places it should have weeks ago. I'd also like to welcome another addition to the TFN family of contributors. Don Forster of Rhombeus Charters will keep us up to date on what's going on in the world-famous Bay of Quinte Area, not only including the well-known walleye of the area, but also dealing with the river trouting and annual salmon runs.
Comment...This issue I started to write a "Beef of the Issue" article about a local fishing spot, and then got far too carried away for it to appear here. Therefore, consider the article entitled "Pickering Outflow Closed" as this issue's comment. Thanks
Until next issue...
(tight lines, get it wet, good fishin', see you on the ice (or in the water!), etc., etc.).
